Picking a Marina was both the most difficult and easiest decision we made! Contradiction right? We felt like we visited hundreds of thousands of Marinas (OK maybe four) before we found the one for us Location, Location, Location – Our Chosen Marina. We instantly fell in love with Yelvertoft Marina, it’s location, the incredibly friendly people, it was just spot on, and we instantly felt at home.
Once everything with Fantine was progressing in the right direction, and we were assured that we would own her! We contacted Yelvertoft to confirm that we would love to moor there if they would still have us. Luckily they were still ok with us mooring as high usage moorers, as we mentioned previously, our jobs and lifestyle mean that we easily spend 5-10 days a month away from home, be it with our parents, work or motorsport, so high usage was the perfect option for us.
Yelvertoft simply took a small deposit to secure our spot and said they looked forward to seeing us on the 1st of April (Our planned arrival date). With Fantine being out of the water at the weekend we found that we had a little bit of downtime, and thought we would pop across to Yelvertoft, check everything was in place and to see if they knew where we would be moored.
Upon arrival the site office was bustling as always with friendly moorers and potential moorers. We were thrilled to see our names up on their arrivals board and more importantly the spot where we will be moored!
So that’s Fantine’s home sorted, we have been told that the mooring next to ours usually remains empty so we’ll get all the baby ducklings and cute things swimming around. Whilst there we also took the girls on a walk through the surrounding countryside and picturesque towpaths, which they of course adored. Making us all the more excited for April!
